All ages and abilities can truly be involved, rhythmic participants in this interactive experience.

How long in advance do I need to contact Giving World Percussion?

Book your date as soon as possible to avoid scheduling conflicts or problems scheduling the date and time you desire. If you are interested in a weekday event 2 -4 weeks in advance should allow for proper scheduling. Last minute requests are accepted, but may have less flexibility.

What are the fees for a facilitated drum circle?

The rate of the facilitated drum circles are determined by the organization type, travel, time considerations, number of participants, and population served. Special rates are provided to NPO’s and schools. Lower rates are also provided for recurring programs (ex. twice a month for 6 months). Most local sessions will cost between $150 to $500.

How do I prepare the drumming area for a facilitated drum circle at my location?

Great question! Please set chairs in a large circle allowing plenty of room for a facilitator and dancers in the middle of the circle. Allow for four entryways into the circle when possible.

If the event is outdoors, especially during the rainy season, please have a large tent to cover the drum circle area or a covered area to store drums in case of inclement weather. The facilitator of your event will arrive at least 30 minutes before drum time to unload equipment and make final adjustments to the drum circle area. Please have water available for the facilitator during the event.

Does Giving World Percussion supply instruments for facilitated drum circles?

Yes. Giving World Percussion will supply drums and small percussion for about 40 to 60 people. Arrangements can be made for larger groups so contact us well in advance if the event  you are planning does not fit within this range.

Will Giving World Percussion travel outside of Central Florida for facilitated drum circles?

Yes. Facilitator meals, accommodations, and travel costs based on mileage will be added to the quote provided for the event.

Classes and Workshops

Should I reserve my space in the class rather than just showing up?

No. It is not necessary to reserve your space, but we do appreciate any confirmations made through the Central Florida Drum Circle Meetup or the Giving World Percussion Facebook Fan Page.

I am professional musician traveling to Central Florida and would like to offer a percussion related workshop. Can you help?

Please send a detailed email with your CV or explanation of your skills, experience, reputable teachers/students, accomplishments, desired workshop topics, requested dates, and space requirements. We will contact you to discuss further details. (info@givingworldpercussion.com)

Drum Repair

How can I tell if my drum needs more than the basic repair?

A quick inspection of the following will help you identify other possible problems beyond a torn drum head:

  1. Inspect the rope on your drum for any frayed, broken, or knotted areas.
  2. Inspect your shell under the rope, inside, and around the base for cracks
  3. Glide your hand across the bearing edge/top edge of the drum to feel for irregularities
How do I coordinate shipping to Giving World Percussion’s repair shop in Orlando, FL?

If you are outside of Orlando, simply ship your drum to us using your preferred shipping method. When your drum arrives and is inspected by our drum tech you will receive a repair invoice by email that includes estimated return shipping and handling charges. Your drum will likely have a different return weight due to work completed.

Why does it take 3 or more weeks for drum repairs and custom built drums?

Drums that we build or repair are usually completed in 3-4 weeks.  This turn-around time is an estimate for common jobs, but just as every drum is unique, so is the heading process for each. Below are a few items that effect the speed of your drums service order:

  1. Orders are completed in the order they are received
  2. New drum heads should dry and settle for a week or more before final tuning of the drum
  3. Drums with Advanced Tuning include an extended head setting and tuning process
  4. Special supplies or materials for your custom order or repair
  5. Drums with shell damage or special treatment needed
What can I customize on a custom drum?

There a quite a few answers to this question, but the basic items customized are:

  1. Rope: size and color of vertical rope, top ring cradles, bottom ring cradles
  2. Ring wrapping: color, type of fabric, thickness
  3. Shell: Carve style, source, wood type, wood treatment, painting , metal decorations, rubber bottom type
  4. Skin: thickness, preferred hair color, origin, method of finished skin at top ring
